Volunteering with Tubman is a unique and rewarding experience. There are many opportunities within our various service areas, and most positions can work as internships for school, depending on requirements. See below for current opportunities!

  • Tubman East, Tubman West, Tubman Chrysalis
    ------------------------------------------
    Help care for little ones while their parents attend counseling, support groups, or access other services. Assisting with the direct care of infants and children, Child Care Assistants implement developmentally appropriate learning opportunities and practice conflict resolution to maintain a peaceful, happy and safe atmosphere.

  • Tubman West (Minneapolis)
    -----------------------------------------------
    Based at Tubman's Minneapolis shelter location, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for working with multiple departments across the organization, assisting with office projects including data entry, filing and tracking content, copying, and assembling materials and packets, and answering phones at the front desk. This position is eligible to begin after attending the July 16th training.

  • Tubman East and Tubman West

    Personal Shoppers work one-on- one with community members and Tubman clients as they shop for and select casual and business-professional attire, offering a fun, personal experience and empowering support.

  • Maplewood Mall

    The NorthStar Youth Outreach Center at our Maplewood shelter location connects youth and young adults ages 13-24 of all genders, and their children, to a safe place to access basic needs, receive advocacy and resource referrals. A new location to expand the reach of services has now opened up at Maplewood Mall.

    Do you want to get involved by fostering positive change in the lives of people who have experienced domestic violence? Support Group Facilitators provide a safe, confidential, and welcoming space for Tubman clients and community members.

  • Tubman West

    Enjoy working with community partners or planning educational workshops? The Community Partner Coordinator position through Tubman's Jobs, Education, and Finance (JEF) program is looking for an outgoing volunteer to help organize workshops and resource fairs for Tubman clients.

  • Food Pantry Assistant

    Tubman Chrysalis Center (Minneapolis)

    Tubman has a new Food Pantry at our Chrysalis Center location in Minneapolis! We will be offering fresh and non-perishable foods to the people we serve. Make a positive and immediate impact by helping to organize the pantry or by assisting folks in getting the food they need. Those with a few hours to spare on Mondays and Wednesdays encouraged to apply.

  • Ramsey County, Washington County
    -----------------------------
    The Criminal Legal Advocate is responsible for attending in-custody arraignments in either the Stillwater or suburban Ramsey County areas, and relays information about criminal domestic assault cases to the clients involved.

    The Ramsey County Criminal Legal Advocate will serve the suburban Ramsey County area.
    The Washington County Criminal Legal Advocate will serve Stillwater.

    Looking for an easy way to help Tubman out? Harriet's Closet is in need of a clothing transporter to help lighten the load of donations we receive on a weekly basis. Reliable transportation and ability to lift at least 20 lbs. is necessary.

  • Tubman Chrysalis Center
    ---------------------------------------------------------
    The Safety Project Intern assists Tubman’s Safety Project staff in providing free representation for low income, domestic violence victims seeking attorneys for Orders for Protection and providing assistance for staff with administrative tasks, data entry, and communications.

  • Tubman East, Tubman West, Tubman Chrysalis Center

    Resource Counseling Advocates are responsible for providing crisis intervention, supportive counseling, general information, and referral services to individuals who call or come into Tubman.

  • The Legal Counseling Advocate for Tubman’s Self-Represented Legal Clinic is responsible for assisting volunteer attorneys with providing pro se assistance and some legal services such as drafting of court documents, coaching on how to file paperwork, preparation for court appearances, etc. to low-income clients. This is a different position than a Legal Counseling Advocate.

  • Tubman Chrysalis Center

    The Civil Legal Advocate Intern or Volunteer is responsible for attending Order for Protection hearings in Hennepin County, assisting with the writing and filing of Orders for Protection at Tubman, performing legal research, and completing necessary tasks for trial preparation.

  • Tubman East, Tubman West
    -----------------------------------------------------------
    Collaborating with staff to support youth whose families have experienced violence, sexual assault, exploitation, stalking, and/or harassment, our Youth and Family Advocates are responsible for providing individualized supportive services and comprehensive advocacy to children, youth, and families currently living at Tubman’s shelters and Transitional Housing.
