What’s new at Tubman:

The Kelly Nicole Foundation's annual event to support organizations and people who have experienced trauma and eating disorders. Named in honor of musician Kelly Nicole, the Kelly Nicole Foundation uses her story and music to bring awareness about trauma to a wider audience.

On June 19, 1865, Major General Gordon Granger delivered the news of the Emancipation Proclamation to Galveston, Texas, two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln has officially signed it into law. This final declaration that all Black slaves were now freed sparked the beginnings of Juneteenth, the celebration of slavery's "official" end. Many consider this day to be the United States' second Independence Day, and celebrate June 19 as a time to reflect upon history and look towards the future.

Happy Pride Month! The month of June is a time to celebrate and reflect on the history of LGBTQ+ community in the United States. Each year, Tubman serves more than 25,000 people of all ages, genders, sexual orientation and identity, ethnicity, and background.

As Mental Health Awareness Month winds down, here are some helpful tips to keep up person mental health awareness every day.

Tubman's Peace Camp is a summer, day activity program for youth ages 5 and up who are staying in our shelters. Peace Camp provides weekly themes that blend educational and recreational programming to create fun and engaging learning opportunities for kids during the summer months.

Starlight Soiree, Tubman’s annual gala to honor survivors’ journeys through trauma and to celebrate the generous donors who support our mission, will be held at the Marriott Hotel City Center in Minneapolis on Saturday, May 5, 2018. This year’s theme is From Fear to Freedom, representing how Tubman’s services can help survivors move forward on a journey of safety, hope and healing.

April is a big month for bringing awareness to different causes and issues. Tubman's commitment to working with and supporting victims and survivors of sexual assault, exploitation and trafficking, and other forms of violence aligns with the National Sexual Violence Resource Center's goal of educating others to embrace their voice to end sexual assault.

Tubman is looking for the right strategic partner to join the leadership team and help take Tubman to the next level of staff engagement and organizational development by further strengthening human resources planning, development, coordination, implementation and oversight.

The grand opening party will be held during Fashion Week Minnesota on Sunday, April 23 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Customers will have the chance to enjoy champagne, signature cocktails, small bites and a local DJ set, as they view the latest Spring fashions on display. A portion of the proceeds from the day will be donated to the local Tubman organization, which leads the way to safety, hope and healing for women, men, youth and families who have experienced relationship violence, sexual exploitation, addiction, mental health challenges or other trauma.
